| For
as long as I can remember I've
been unhappy with certain
aspects of my body.
It was painful growing up
in a home with five brothers and
being the only girl-an an
unattractive one at that.
My looks in general were
the subject of their teasing,
but my nose and buckteeth were
easy targets.
By the time I reached my
teens and got braces, the damage
was done.
I found it difficult to
believe people when they told me
I was attractive.
I always assumed that
they had some kind of agenda.
Something that they
wanted from me and that's why
they were telling me that I
looked good.
All in all I think that I
have learned to live with my
appearance, but recent events
have made it clear to me that
AGAIN I'm not looking my best.
In the past few months my
husband (who is actually over a
year older) has been mistaken
for one of my sons on two
different occasions.
I'm happy that my husband
is looking good for his age; I
just don't want to look older
than he is.
I really have no desire
to look 30 again.
I am a proud mother of 7
and grandmother of 3, but I do
want to look the best at 52 that
I can. |
